In this step, the survey items are pretested with a small sample (n = 5 - 10) of individuals from the population of interest. The survey items are administered and then a focus group is conducted to get the reactions of the participants. An important question to ask the participants is what they believe was NOT covered in the survey. Any pertinent changes, additions, or revisions from the pretest should be integrated into the construct specification and instrument after the survey pretest.
