Known-groups validity

Compare independent groups on survey outcomes

Known-groups validity is the type of evidence generated by comparing known groups on the survey outcomes and detecting hypothesized differences between these known independent groups. If a survey instrument can effectively differentiate between independent groups, then between-subjects statistical statistics should yield significant differences in the survey outcome between the groups.

Independent samples t-tests, ANOVAs, and their respective non-parametric equivalents can be used to establish evidence of known-groups validity. Significant main effects and differences are assumed to generate known-groups validity evidence.
