Appraising clinical decision analysis evidence

Assess therapeutic alternatives, probabilities, and utilities

After reading the clinical decision analysis (CDA), ask these questions:

1. Were all important therapeutic alternatives (including no treatment) and outcomes included in the CDA?

2. Are the probabilities of the outcomes valid and credible in the current clinical situation?

3. Are the utilities of the outcomes valid and credible?

When appraising clinical decision analysis evidence, all therapeutic alternatives and outcomes should be included, the probabilities of the outcomes should be valid and credible, and the utilities of the outcomes should be defined.
