Cross-tabulation tables are used in research to describe the relationships between categorical predictor, confounding, and outcome variables. The 2x2 cross-tabulation table is used to calculate epidemiological and diagnostic testing measures. Cross-tabulation tables allow for many different research questions to be asked.
1. The data is entered in between-subjects fashion.
2. Click Analyze.
3. Drag the cursor over the Descriptive Statistics drop-down menu.
4. Click on Crosstabs.
5. Click on a categorical predictor or independent variable to highlight it.
6. Click on the arrow to move the predictor or independent variable into the Row(s): box.
7. Click on a categorical outcome or dependent variable to highlight it.
8. Click on the arrow to move the outcome or dependent variable into the Column(s): box.
9. Click OK.

1. Look at the predictor*outcome Crosstabulation table. This is the table that is interpreted.
