Absolute Risk Reduction

The positive effect of treatment

The absolute risk reduction (ARR) is the absolute difference between the control event rate (CER) and the experimental event rate (EER). The absolute risk reduction is essentially the magnitude of an efficacious treatment effect. Absolute risk reduction further informs upon the number needed to treat (NNT) calculation.
